Dr. Rodney Smith is a board-certified and fellowship-trained pain management expert specializing in a vast range of interventional and minimally invasive procedures. In his practice, he incorporates individualized and comprehensive treatment plans to help his patients’ acute and chronic pain. He joined Desert Orthopaedic Center in 2021, and he strives to ensure patients receive the most leading-edge treatments.
Dr. Smith received his Bachelor of Science degree at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He later graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville with his Doctor of Medicine degree. He went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. Following residency, Dr. Smith completed an additional year of training through a pain management fellowship at the University of Utah Health School of Medicine in Salt Lake City.
Using his years of education and experience, Dr. Smith uses his skill set to help provide answers and options. He recognizes how debilitating pain can be and wants his patients to live their lives with relief and without compromise.
When Dr. Smith is not seeing patients, he spends time with his wife and four children and enjoys cycling and hiking to stay active. He also enjoys playing racquetball, basketball, and football. An avid artist, Dr. Smith has won multiple state and university awards in sketching, painting, and sculpting.
