Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy

  • At Desert Orthopaedic Center, we proudly offer shockwave therapy as a noninvasive solution for chronic pain, including foot and ankle tendon issues, as well as conditions affecting the shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, and SI joints.

What Is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy, delivers targeted sound waves to areas of damaged tissue. These waves help increase blood flow, break up scar tissue, and promote tissue regeneration—providing long-lasting relief and improved function.

Conditions We Treat

When patients experience persistent tendon conditions affecting the foot, ankle, shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, or SI joints that haven't responded to traditional treatments, shockwave therapy can be an effective alternative. This innovative therapy can be used to treat the following conditions:

  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Insertional Achilles pain
  • Peroneal tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction
  • Other chronic tendon disorders

Benefits of shockwave therapy include:

  • Noninvasive, drug-free treatment
  • Minimal downtime
  • In-office treatment
  • Stimulates long-term healing
  • Improves mobility and reduces pain

What to Expect

Treatment typically involves a series of quick, in-office sessions lasting about 15 to 20 minutes. Most patients experience gradual improvement over several weeks, with many reporting reduced pain and improved function after just a few treatments.
