Dr. Hugh Bassewitz Appointed to Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners
Desert Orthopaedic Center is proud to announce that Dr. Hugh Bassewitz, orthopaedic spine surgeon and Senior Managing Partner, has been appointed to the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Bassewitz was selected by Governor Joe Lombardo and began his term on September 1, 2024, serving as a physician member of the Board.
Dr. Bassewitz is a nationally recognized spine surgeon with more than two decades of experience caring for patients in Nevada. He specializes in cervical and lumbar spine surgery, minimally invasive and robotic techniques, microsurgery, and complex spinal reconstruction. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Bassewitz has contributed extensively to clinical research, published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and lectures regionally and nationally on advanced spine care.
His appointment reflects his longstanding commitment to medical excellence, physician leadership, and the advancement of high-quality patient care across the state. Dr. Bassewitz also serves as a spine consultant for the Las Vegas Raiders and the Vegas Golden Knights and remains actively involved in physician education and training.
